Napa Valley Water Birthing
Why Birth in Water?
Water birthing is the gentle process of giving birth in a tub of warm water. Some women choose to labor in the water, as a pain and anxiety management technique and then get out for delivery Other women decide to stay in the water for the actual birth as well. The theory behind water birth is that since the baby has already been in the amniotic fluid sac for nine months, birthing in a similar environment is gentler for the baby and less stressful for the mother.
Evidence shows that in reducing the stress of labor and delivery, while promoting gentle births, fetal complications are reduced.
During a water birth, the calming warm water soothes you as your labor progresses, reducing stress hormones and releasing endorphins, which can naturally relieve your pain.
